Magnetic Sensor Systems’ Compliance Statement Regarding European Directive on Hazardous Substances:
The European Union Directive 2002/95/EC followed by 2011/65/EU and 2015/863/EU on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) restricts the presence of certain substances,
including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and two halide-containing flame retardants: PBB (polybrominated biphenyl) and PBDE
(polybrominated diphenyl ether) in electrical and electronic products.
The RoHS Directive applies to electrical and electronic products and their component parts, offered for sale into the European
Union after July 1, 2006. Other countries are expected to adopt similar legislation with a similar timeline.
Our Commitment to Achieving RoHS Compliance
Magnetic Sensor Systems is actively involved in maintaining compliance to the EU RoHS Directive for products that we offer worldwide.
Our RoHS compliance project team is now:
Working with
external suppliers to ensure compliance of targeted purchased products.
Documenting data on all parts and
materials.
Working with customers to determine their
specific RoHS compliance requirements.
Individual Magnetic Sensor Systems products
may be available in various versions. The RoHS initiative may not
affect certain customers, i.e. those
in the military and aerospace industries. Certain customers are specifically requesting the
use of non-RoHS compliant material.
It is our goal to keep all our customers; those who require RoHS compliance and those who do not, satisfied with our
product selection. Non-compliant parts and components will be kept as long as industry demand exists. This strategy will ensure
that we will be able to satisfy whatever option our customer base requires.
The request for compliance should
be made specifically at the time of order. There may be a requirement for
a minimum quantity order. There may also be an additional cost or a longer lead-time to deliver the item.
Solder Composition
Magnetic Sensor Systems has so far qualified the lead-free solder Sn96.5 Ag3.0 Cu0.5 to be used in our internal manufacturing. This
qualification is not final and upon further testing and/or recommendations a different type of solder composition may be qualified and used.
Part Number Identification
Where applicable, the Magnetic Sensor Systems specification sheet shall indicate if the part is classified as RoHS Compliant.
The parts will be identified as being RoHS compliant by either modifying the part number (generally by adding the letter G to the beginning of the part number), by marking the shipping container, or by producing a certificate of compliance as requested.
Guarantee of Compliance
Magnetic Sensor Systems’ compliance is based on the assumed authenticity of the conformance certificate received from its own
suppliers. Magnetic Sensor Systems assumes no liability and makes no independent representations or warranties, expressed
or implied, in connection with the use of this information.
Magnetic Sensor Systems does not warrant that customers’ own products, which incorporate such MSS products, will in turn
comply with European Directive 2005/95/EC. In all events, customer shall remain liable for ensuring its own products meet the
requirements of European Directive 2002/95/EC, including but not necessarily limited to:
verifying the compatibility with its
soldering process
checking marking, date-code and box
labeling of all MSS products
customer’s stock management and product
qualification in the application
