An electromagnet generates a magnetic field that attracts ferrous materials when in close proximity. MSS electromagnets offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for holding, handling, and latching onto ferromagnetic metals such as steel, iron, nickel, and cobalt alloys. The performance data in this catalog highlights the holding force of our electromagnets, specifying the axial force needed to detach them from a flat iron surface under various input power levels. We manufacture a wide range of electromagnets in different sizes and shapes, with diameters from 0.38" (9.6mm) to 3.00" (76.2mm) and holding forces up to 370 lb (1,650 N). All data on electromagnets in this section is based on using DC voltages. AC voltages may be first rectified using full wave bridge rectifiers and then be used with DC electromagnets.
